Maya Angelou once said “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” This has stuck with me, and every time I find myself not following these principles, I make the necessary changes!
I am sure I am not the only one who has been in the middle of a crisis, and thought “I don’t know how I am ever going to get through this, this is the worst thing that has ever happened to me.” That is until the next problem comes along, and it is somehow worse, but you’ve learned how to cope. Me, I learned my grandma’s favorite phrase – the most honest statement in dealing with catastrophe or trauma – “this too shall pass.” And it always does. Why? Because we make a choice to not let it get the best of us, or define us. We decide that we will survive and thrive.
So, why not do so with some passion, compassion, humor, and style?
